Graduate Portfolio Showcases

Come see the latest in apparel, graphic design, film and video, printing, and photography this year at Seattle Central Community College’s graduate portfolio showcases. Graduating students will display their portfolios at five unique shows occurring between June 11 and June 17. These presentations represent the culmination of two years of intensive study in the college’s highly-regarded visual communication and design programs. All portfolio shows are free to the public.

GRAPHIC DESIGN AND ILLUSTRATION graduates will display their portfolios on Wednesday, June 11, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Capitol Hill Arts Center, located at 1621-12th Avenue. The student portfolios include designs for corporate identity, posters, brochures, web site development and design, advertising, annual reports, and illustrations.

The GRAPHIC IMAGING AND PRINTING TECHNOLOGY program will host its annual graduate portfolio show on Thursday, June 12, from noon to 8 p.m.. The show features high-end, award-winning, two- and four-color print work, including posters, note cards and covers produced by graduating students. There will also be demonstrations of the printing process and printing equipment, plus facility tours. The show will be held in the basement of Seattle Central’s North Plaza Building at 1801 Broadway. Parking in the garage at Harvard and Pine is free with a printed invitation. The portfolio show representing the work of students in the COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHY program will be held Friday, June 13 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The show features the work of graduating students, but will include work from first-year students as well. The show will take place at Getty Images, located at 601 North 34th.

The 17th annual Film and Video Showcase will display FILM AND VIDEO COMMUNICATIONS projects for public viewing on Friday, June 13, beginning at 6 p.m. in the Main Theatre of the Seattle Art Museum, located at 100 University Street. Graduating students will display their work in narrative, documentary, commercials, and public service announcement videos.

Graduating students of the APPAREL DESIGN program will display their work in the program’s 24th annual portfolio show, entitled “Cut 1-26 Design Lines.” The show will be held on Tuesday, June 17, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in room BE2114 on the college campus, 1701 Broadway. In just 11 weeks, 26 graduating students have created their own clothing line from start to finish – a culmination of two years of intense technical design training.
