Paralegal Course Starts Oct. 1

SEATTLE – Attention Job Seekers and Career Changers: You can train to become a paralegal in about six weeks, thanks to a partnership between Seattle Central Community College and the Center for Legal Studies.

The 24-hour, live-lecture course starts on Oct. 1, and is held on Monday and Wednesday evenings and on Saturdays.

Paralegals are trained to help attorneys do research, interview clients and witnesses and prepare legal briefs and forms. They don’t practice law but can do many of the tasks needed in a law office. Graduates are employed in corporate human resource or legal departments, government agencies, banks, insurance companies, the criminal justice system, lobby groups and legal aid offices. Salaries range from $30,000 to $75,000 a year.

Upon completion of the program, students receive a certificate from Seattle Central Community College, part of the Seattle Community College District and accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.
