Public Forum Kicks Off with Focus on Seattle’s Renewed NBA Efforts

SEATTLE – The future of professional basketball in Seattle will be discussed Thursday night Oct. 25 in a public forum at Seattle Central Community College. Former Seattle Sonics president, owner and player Wally Walker and sports columnist, author and radio personality Steve Rudman are the featured panelists for the forum, “Seattle Sonics: What REALLY happened, and making sure it doesn’t happen again.” Seattle entrepreneur and humanitarian Bob Walsh will moderate.

The aim of the event, the first of a series bringing together experts in a variety of athletic, civic and global affairs, is to shed light on how Seattle lost its National Basketball team to Oklahoma City – and the complexities of building a new arena in order to qualify for another NBA team. The series, “Conversations with Bob Walsh and Friends,” is presented by Seattle Central’s Continuing Education Division.

The forum, which includes a question-and-answer session with the audience, includes a $35 dinner (reservations needed) prepared by Seattle Central’s award-winning Culinary Academy. Dinner begins at 5:45 p.m., with the program running from 6:30 to 8 p.m. For reservations, please call (206) 934-5448.
