Opticianry students excel in national tests
Testing results are in for second-year students in Seattle Central’s School of Opticianry, and they are stellar!
Almost all students in the two-year program took the lengthy examination given by the American Board of Opticianry, as well as another from the National Contact Lens Examiners Certification board. Both tests are voluntary and not required for state licensing.
The pass rates were 95 percent and 100 percent, respectively.
“It’s a very good group of students this year, but these results are standard,” said Christiaan J. van Vliet, LDO. “We have very high pass rates.”
Many of van Vliet’s students are already working for optometrists. After graduation, others may opt to go into business in retail, sales or contact-lens design.
