Marine Deck Technology program returns to Seattle Maritime
In response to industry demand, the Seattle Maritime Academy once again offers its U.S. Coast Guard-approved Marine Deck Technology Program as of in Fall Quarter 2015. The one-year program, which has not been offered since 2011, prepares students with skills necessary for employment as Able-Bodied Seamen.
Students learn the theory, design, operation and maintenance of deck equipment and the applied navigational skills needed to satisfy the written and practical examination requirements for the merchant mariner credential endorsements of Able Seaman, Lifeboatman, Survival Craft and Rating Forming Part of a Navigational Watch.
The curriculum totals 64 academic credits, which equates to a commitment of three academic quarters plus a 90 day internship. A full course listing is posted on our website.
