Students recognized by annual literary contest
Five Seattle Central students earned recognition in this year’s League for Innovation Literacy Contest. This year’s students include:
- Linnea Young, first-place, Poetry
- Ross Showalter, first-place, One-Act Play
- Kitty Slocum, honorable mention, Poetry
- Sarah Hammond, honorable mention, One-Act Play
- Mary Gallacci, honorable mention, Fiction
First-place winners will advance to the national contest, hosted this year by Maricopa College in Phoenix, with winners announced in June. Winners and runners-up from the Seattle Colleges District will receive a cash award and a plaque to honor their accomplishments at a recognition ceremony at the Board of Trustees meeting in early June.
The League for Innovation Literary Contest gives community college students an opportunity to earn recognition for their work in four categories, including poetry, one-act play, essay or fiction.
