Distinguished Faculty and Alumnus announced
Two faculty members and one alumnus were honored during the Seattle Central Community College graduation held recently at Benaroya Hall.
Michael (Duff) McKagan, bassist for the hard rock band Guns N’Roses, was named the 2103 Distinguished Alumni of the Year. He attended Seattle Central Community College in the 1990s and credits the college with teaching him how to study and stay focused. “Attending Seattle Central was an awesome experience, “he said. “It taught me a lot about discipline.”
McKagan was the third person to receive this honor. The award was created by President Paul Killpatrick in 2011 to honor noteworthy alumni. Since he was on tour with his current band,
Walking Papers, McKagan’s acceptance speech was by video. See it here: http://vimeo.com/68713705
