Tracy Lai awarded Fulbright-Hays Award

Seattle Central faculty member Tracy Lai has received a Fulbright-Hays fellowship to study in China for six weeks this summer. She is the only representative from Washington State out of 16 recipients selected to be part of this seminar program.

Lai, part of the Humanities and Social Sciences Department, will create a curriculum project for the U.S. Department of Education and will  use her travel research to teach a fall class on The Pacific Century that includes China.

“As a third generation Chinese American, this is an ancestral journey for me, as well: my first visit to the motherland,” Lai said.

The National Committee on United States-China Relations, a private, non-governmental organization, conducts exchange programs for many groups and focuses on several areas, including education. The trip is organized by this committee.
