Seattle Central Seeks Nominations for 2012 Distinguished Alumni Award
SEATTLE – Seattle Central Community College is seeking nominations for its 2012 Distinguished Alumni Award. The award will be given to an alumnus/alumna who exemplifies achievement in his or her particular endeavor in life, including academic, business and professional and civic activities.
Last year, the college selected Alan Sugiyama to receive its first Distinguished Alumni Award. He was selected both for his outstanding contributions to the community and his courageous fight against discrimination as a student at Seattle Central Community College. Seattle Central is inviting nominations for its 2012 Distinguished Alumni Award. Anyone can submit a nomination by going to the Seattle Central Foundation website. The deadline for submissions is April 30, 2012.
“Seattle Central has been serving the Puget Sound region for more than 40 years. More than 500,000 students have passed through our doors and today they serve our community in myriad and distinguished ways,” says Dr. Paul Killpatrick, president of Seattle Central Community College. “It is my hope that this award will serve to showcase the contributions of our illustrious graduates, and inspire our students and the community.”
The winner of the 2012 Distinguished Alumni Award will be invited to speak at Seattle Central’s 2012 commencement ceremony at Benaroya Hall. The recipient will be selected by a subcommittee of the Seattle Central Foundation Board and others.
