Campus to host Health Fair for Capitol Hill Community

Need a little encouragement to get your life on a healthy track? Seattle Central’s Health Fair can provide that support. And best of all, it is FREE to students, staff and the community. Dozens of health care providers will be available on March 6, to give advice, referrals and even free massages. The Health Fair will be held in two locations with slightly different hours.

The Women’s Health and Resources Fair will line the main hallway of the Broadway Edison building, 1701 Broadway, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.  Representatives from the Seattle Milk Fund, Seattle-King County Public Health, Seattle Indian Health Board, Center for Multicultural Health and Child Care Resources of King County will be available to explain resources available to women and families.

The Swedish Mammography Mobile will offer free exams to qualified women from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. and will park their vehicle on Broadway, between the main building and the Mitchell Activity Center.

The Health and Well-being part of the Fair will be held in the Mitchell Activity Center, 1718 Broadway, from 11 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. One of the vendors – the NeighborCare-Health Outreach group – will assist in signing up for insurance under the Affordable Care Act.

Other vendors scheduled to attend include: Gay City Health Project-rapid HIV testing, Street Yoga, Hope Heart, Leisa Chocolates, Kind Healthy Snacks, MAC Masseur, Puget Sound Blood Bank, Underdog Sports,  and Seattle Central’s Sustainability Committee and Sport Commission.

The Health Fair is sponsored by the college’s Mitchell Activity Center and Student Support Programs.
