Student leaders dine at the capital
Last month, members of Seattle Central’s Associated Student Council (ASC) traveled to Olympia and had lunch with Governor Jay Inslee and Secretary of State Kim Wyman after being recognized as a top performing school in the Student Voter Registration Challenge.
During Welcome Week at the beginning of the school year, Seattle Central’s Associated Student Council took on the Student Voter Registration Challenge by canvassing the campus and encouraging students to register to vote. The goal was to increase the number of students registered to vote by the Nov. 6 General Election.
“Voting is the best way to fight misrepresentation,” ASC’s Executive of Administration Omar Osman said. “I always tell my community that our voice matters, we matter, we have power and the power is to participate and contribute our voice to the local elections by voting.”
