Seattle Central Foundation holds 36th annual Scholarship Awards Ceremony
Scholarship recipients, their families and donors filled the Broadway Performance Hall last month for the Seattle Central Foundation’s 36th Annual Scholarship Awards Ceremony. This academic year, more than 200 students have received scholarships totaling over $475,000.
Mohammad Adan, a current student at Seattle Central working toward an Associates of Arts degree, was the keynote speaker. Mohammad spoke about his academic struggle after immigrating to the United States with his family from Somalia. He also reflected on the tutors who helped him learn to read and inspired him to become a tutor for City Year. He said that Seattle Central is an institution rooted in social justice and is helping him move toward a brighter future.
