Custodian wins silver medal in Special Olympics
Earlier this month, custodian Adam Young’s basketball team, the Renton Outlaws, won second place in the Washington state Special Olympic Games. After beating two teams in regional competitions in Issaquah, the Outlaws advanced to the state competition in Wenatchee, where they took home a silver medal.
This was Adam’s third win in as many years competing for the Renton Outlaws. The first two years, his team left with gold medals and next year, he says his team plans to reclaim their spot at number one.
Adam is a part-time custodian in the Facilities and Plant Operations department working with theMainstay program, which assists and supports people with disabilities in reaching financial and personal independence through employment. He has worked at Seattle Central since April of 2014 but also worked here previously in 2004 in Facilities.
