Apparel Design students create custom hoodies for young clients
When 26 fourth grade clients arrived at the School of Apparel Design & Development late last month, first-year student designers met them prepped with tape measures, fabric swatches, pens and pencils. They were challenged to create a custom hoodie – in line with the students’ tastes – in just five hours. The elementary students also got a taste of college life by touring the Seattle Central campus.
This week, the designers visited the fourth grader’s elementary school to deliver the finished products. The students were happy with their new customized hoodies and offered their designers a tour of their school. This project is part of a yearly tradition in the apparel program.
