New course prepares people for retail marijuana industry
This quarter, Continuing Education is helping professionals gain expertise in one of the state’s newest industries.
The legalization of marijuana in Washington has spurred the opening of retail establishments to serve a growing market for cannabis products. Continuing Education is now offering professionals the opportunity to advance their careers in the marijuana industry while helping companies comply with state law. This quarter, the college began offering a Cannabis Foundation Course, which introduces students to an overview of the cannabis plant, Washington state laws and regulations, and customer service guidelines specific to the cannabis industry. The college is holding these classes in partnership with the Academy of Cannabis Science, an organization with subject-area and legal expertise in the industry.
Continuing Education also plans to offer additional courses connected to the cannabis industry as requirements evolve.
