Maritime Academy students help King County prepare for water taxi emergencies
Seattle Maritime Academy students helped the King County Maritime Division, which manages the King County Water Taxis, stage an emergency evacuation of a vessel near the Seattle Maritime Academy’s campus on the Lake Washington Ship Canal as part of a unique drill last month. This was the first time King County invited students to participate in a training exercise, which also included the U.S. Coast Guard, Washington State Ferries and other agencies. The partnership, which King County and the Seattle Maritime Academy will continue, aims to provide students with vital marine emergency management skills.
