Students present at UW Undergraduate Research Symposium
STEM students recently joined peers from across the region to present their work at UW’s annual symposium.
Last month, Seattle Central students joined undergraduates from across the region to present their research projects at the Undergraduate Research Symposium at the University of Washington. Students have been conducting a research project as part of “Ready! Set! Transfer!,” a program that provides support to students at community colleges to help them transfer to four-year institutions to study STEM fields. Presenting their projects to a group of their peers offers students the opportunity to develop the public speaking and networking skills that will help them succeed as they transfer to universities and launch careers.
Students presented on a variety of topics, including analyses of chemicals emitted by electronic cigarettes, pollution near Seattle’s sewer outflows, and data collected from rockets launched at a recent excursion to the Nevada desert.
