New student leadership director named

Alvin Logan will oversee student-led programs and organizations at Seattle Central

Seattle Central College has appointed Alvin Logan, Ph.D., as the new director of Student Leadership. In this position, he will oversee Associated Student Council, student boards and organizations, and other programs. In particular, he will work to support student engagement and promote student persistence.

“Alvin has experience in research, teaching and helping students develop their leadership skills that make him ideal for this position,” Ricardo Leyva-Puebla, dean of Student Development, said.

Logan has held various roles at the University of Washington and the University of Texas at Austin (UTA), including tutor, teaching assistant, assistant instructor and academic advisor. He earned his doctorate at UTA in Education while working for the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement. He earned his master’s and bachelor’s at the University of Washington where he played on the Huskies football team.
