Emergency call boxes and cameras to bolster campus safety
In an effort to make the campus more safe and secure, new surveillance cameras and emergency call boxes are slated to be installed by the end of next month as part of a public safety project. Seven emergency call boxes equipped with cameras will be installed near certain building entrances and around the perimeter of campus. This will provide students, faculty, staff and visitors with an important communications link directly to the Public Safety department in case of an emergency. Locations will include:
- Around the Broadway-Edison building
- Near the new Readerboard
- Outside the Science and Math building
- Outside the Mitchell Activity Center
Facilities will also install more than 40 cameras both inside and outside of the Broadway-Edison building to allow for complete surveillance of the ground level of the building.
