Faculty poetry featured on Metro buses

Two English faculty members’ poems will be featured on King County Metro’s buses over the next year as part of its “Poetry on Buses” program. The theme of this year’s contest was “Home,” and more than 150 poems were selected. Susan Casey’s poem, “Smokehouse,” was inspired by her grandfather, a Slovak immigrant and butcher who encouraged her to teach English. Susan has been an instructor here since 1999, and this is the fourth year the program has featured her poetry. Instructor Jeanne Morel’s poem, titled, “At the Retirement Center, the Elevator Stalled between Floors,” was inspired by a workshop she gave at the Skyline Retirement Center.
