Seattle Central Community College receives $135,000 Bequest from the Broadway High School Alumna Patsy MacKay
Seattle – Seattle Central Community College Foundation has received a $135,000 bequest from Patsy MacKay, a long-time college supporter and Broadway High School alumna. This generous bequest will be used, per her wishes, to establish a named scholarship endowment for students at Seattle Central.
“Our community will certainly not be the same without Patsy,” said Dr. Charles H. Mitchell, Seattle Central President and long-time friend. “I am pleased that her legacy will live on with a scholarship endowment that will support students for generations to come.”
Patsy was a beloved member of the Broadway High School Alumni Association and especially well known on campus for her support of Seattle Central students. Known to her many friends as “Miss First Hill,” she was a charter member of the First Hill Foundation and member of the Virginia Mason Community Advisory Committee.
Patsy also helped establish the First Hill Park at Minor and University Streets and was instrumental in raising funds for the purchase of the landmark tower street clock admired by many between Minor and Summit Avenues in downtown Seattle. In addition to Seattle Central, Patsy generously supported the Seattle Historic Preservation Society, St. Marks Cathedral, and many other charitable organizations over the years.
