Seattle Central instructors contribute to literature
When they’re not teaching English courses at Seattle Central, instructors Jeb Wyman and Takami Nieda are editing and translating books.
Jeb Wyman edited a collection of 18 stories from veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan titled, “What They Signed Up For: True Stories of Ordinary Soldiers.” These stories cover the soldiers’ motivation for enlisting in the military, experience going to war and life after their return. All proceeds from the sale of this book will go to help veterans and their families, veterans’ organizations, service providers and student groups.
Takami Nieda translated a popular Japanese book titled “Go,” written by Kazuki Kaneshiro. This book tells the story of a Korean student who falls in love with a Japanese girl. Nieda received multiple grants including the PEM/Heim Translation Fund for translating “Go.” The translated novel will be available through Amazon Crossing next month.
