PACT program earns Sound Transit grant
Seattle Vocational Institute’s Pre-Apprenticeship Construction Training (PACT) program recently received a $150,000 grant from Sound Transit to start new evening and weekend classes this Winter Quarter.
This grant aims to enroll people of color, women, re-entry students and those who may be juggling work, family and other obligations that prevent them from attending classes during the day.
“We are ecstatic and grateful to be awarded this opportunity,” Interim Associate Dean and PACT Director Krishna Richardson-Daniels said. “I envision expanding our day cohorts to include 30 students per quarter, and have two night/weekend classes running simultaneously.”
PACT received the grant in August and it will go through September 2019.
