Hard work, dedication on display at Commencement

A message from President Sheila Edwards Lange, Ph.D.

Dear Friends:

Spring in higher education is synonymous with transition and celebration, and it is always my favorite time of the year. This past Saturday, at Seattle Central’s 50th Commencement Celebration, a new group of graduates marched across the stage of Benaroya Hall to accept their hard-earned degrees, certificates and diplomas. They will now transition to the next chapter in their lives – perhaps a four-year university to pursue a bachelor’s degree, or into the workforce to launch a career with their new skills.

This time of year is just as rewarding to our college community. Each of us – faculty, staff and administrators – has invested so much of our time, energy and expertise to help students achieve success.

I believe our efforts are strongest when our college has a strong network of community support from which to draw. You, and so many others I have met over the past few months, have continually amazed me with your dedication to Seattle Central and our students. I sincerely thank you for everything you do: from donating money to support student scholarships at our successful Believe Gala, to volunteering on advisory committees to programs, you are a huge reason why our students are so successful.

As this academic year draws to a close, I am incredibly excited about the college’s 50th anniversary year, beginning this fall. You will hear more about our celebration plans soon, and I hope you will join us to make this upcoming year the best ever in the history of Seattle Central.

Sincerely,
Sheila Edwards Lange, Ph.D.
